The metadata are stored in a searchable metadata catalogue, GeoNetwork, in the ISO 19115-3 standard. The GeoNetwork metadata catalogue offers machine harvesting features in several ways including:

  1. Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH)
  2. Catalogue Service for Web (CSW) protocol
  3. Open GIS Consortium (OGC) protocols
  4. Z3950 protocol, popular with library catalogues

Data projects at AIMS are available through standard web service protocols including - RESTful API providing JSON formatted data and OGC services
