Library

One of the largest specialist marine science libraries in Australia

The AIMS library is one of the largest specialist marine science libraries in Australia. Our collections include around 7000 books and 2500 journal titles (online and selected titles in print).

Information Services, housed in the library, provides services to AIMS staff, and also some services to the public and other libraries.

This section also encompasses the Registry, which is responsible for record-keeping, correspondence and the safekeeping of seals and contracts. Registry is the Institute’s official archive office and adheres to the Archives Act 1983.

Access

Members of the public are welcome to contact the library for assistance. Please note that there is a cost for photocopying. Books are not available for loan to members of the public.

An inter-library loan and document delivery service is provided to university or organisational libraries. This normally costs $16.50, but will be more if it is a ‘rush’ request.

The library is associated with IAMSLIC (International Association of Aquatic and Marine Science Libraries) and has reciprocal arrangements with a variety of other similar organisations.

If your library is interested in special lending arrangements, please contact us.
