My research at AIMS focuses on microorganisms in marine environments and includes topics such as: (i) ecology and genomics of coral reef-associated microorganisms in the Great Barrier Reef, (ii) environmental DNA monitoring of micro- and macroorganisms (fishes, corals), and (iii) microorganisms as probiotics for coral aquaculture. Through these projects I have established cutting edge computational and bioinformatics capabilities at AIMS, enabling the Institute to spearhead integration of molecular data into the next generation of marine biological observation.
