We now have an opportunity available for passionate and experienced Researcher to join our team within the College of Science and Engineering.
- Full-time; fixed term to 30 May 2027
- Academic Level A or B - $75,924 - $125,774 p.a. + employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits
- Based at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas.
- Level of appointment and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a dynamic and engaging researcher to lead research that will break new ground combining hydrodynamic (oceanographic biophysical) dispersal model parameterisation with empirical data on reproductive and larval biology and dispersal (especially population genetic data) to yield improved understandings of how oceanographic circulation and biological attributes shape connectivity between reefs.
Working with senior leaders within the College and across the Academy, you will help grow the research profile of the College and play an active role in shaping the future of our teaching and research programs.
WHAT YOU CAN BRING TO THE ROLE
- PhD in a relevant discipline such as marine science, oceanographic modelling or evolutionary biology.
- Experience working with particle tracking models, habitat modelling, and genetic data (including evolutionary modelling).
- Demonstrated experience in development and analysis of models that utilise sound assumptions alongside available evidence in relevant coding languages (e.g. R. Python, MARLAB, QGIS).
- Exceptional publication record for stage of career and relative to opportunity.
- Evidence of exceptional research ability, including a demonstrated capacity to conceive and execute scientific investigations of key questions in related fields.
- Experience with transdisciplinary contribution to cross-sector partnerships and established links (national and international) with research organisations in fields aligned with the position.
